My New Life

I have recently had some complaints that I have not blogged about the most recent news in my life. So, Anne, this one's for you.

December 24, 12:30 a.m. Chaz and I had just gotten back to my parents' house after Landers Family Christmas. We'd had a great time laughing, chatting, and playing games. Chaz and I lay on the couch dreaming of the future and acting like lovebirds at Christmastime. "Why don't you two go to bed so you can get up at a decent hour?" my dad grumbled. Instead of obeying, Chaz asks me to go on a walk with him like he had been trying to all weekend. We bundled up and headed out into the crisp, clean, Christmas Eve landscape. The nearly full moon shone brightly on the crystal landscape as we walked along the creek by my house. We talked about nature and Creation and the beauty of it all. We talked of our relationship and of how we made each other want to be better people. Love better, serve better, reflect God better. We walked hand in hand for awhile until reaching an old tree I had played around as a young girl. Here we stopped and used the trnk to shelter us from the wind. Chaz began to talk, "I like this place because here I can see the past, present, future here. In the past, you played here as a little girl, in the present, we're here together, and I want to see us together in the future as well." I merely shivered and agreed with him. He continued, "So Kate, on December 24th, I want to tell you something that I have never told any other girl. I love you." I began to cry, "I love you, too." You see, Chaz and I had never said that to each other. He always said that he only wanted to say that to his wife. At this point, Chaz went to get on his knee and slipped and fell on the ice. I'm talking face-first, flat on the ground. I helped him to his knee (metaphorical of our relationship? I don't know). He then pulled out a ring box, opened iit and asked that fateful question, "Kate, will you marry me?" "Yes!" I responded and we hugged and kissed and cried. Finally, very smoothly Chaz said, "Put this ring on, my hands are freezing!"

So that is the story of how my life is to change forever. On June 28, 2008, I am to bond forever with the love of my life. I'm his helpmeet, and he's my rescuer. I hope that we continue to adventure and live a life abundant.

ha ok, so i love chaz. he has this amazing, romantic heart. he wants moments like this to be perfect. but chaz is a little tiny bit clumsy.

therefore his delivery on this was PERFECT. if it had been any other way, it wouldn't have embodied who he is.

im happy for you guys. and im glad chaz waited until after steven asked me... ha :)
